A look at the functioning of EC (Election Commission) and tracing the process of its degradation during the last 5 years, from 2012 to 2017.

The present EC Commissioners are, Achal Kumar Jyoti (CEC), Om Prakash Rawat and Sunil Arora. Today EC has become a Monster, to the complete detriment of our nation. I have explained below, as to why it is so.

1. For a significant time, the Election Commission of India continued to maintain that the EVMs were tamper proof. However, a number of different lawsuits were brought challenging the use of EVMs without VVPATs.

The most significant was a public interest litigation action brought by Dr. Subramanian Swamy in 2012. The Supreme Court of India in 2013 ruled in favor of Dr. Swamy, reversing an earlier ruling by the High Court of Delhi. 2. See what the SC had said then. // From the materials placed by both the sides, we are satisfied that the “paper trail” is an indispensable requirement of free and fair elections. The confidence of the voters in the EVMs can be achieved only with the introduction of the “paper trail”. EVMs with VVPAT system ensure the accuracy of the voting system.

With an intent to have fullest transparency in the system and to restore the confidence of the voters, it is necessary to set up EVMs with VVPAT system because vote is nothing but an act of expression which has immense importance in democratic system //.

3. Congress made sure that nothing moved forward then. Modi ensures that nothing moves forward now. BJP, Cong, EC and now the SC are ensuring that "compulsory use of VVPATs" is not made mandatory in elections.

4. The Delhi HC in 2012 and now the EC claim that the cost of using VVPAT is high. A total sham that is being used by the CEC to cheat the nation. Who can fight this powerful lobby, which is working hand in glove to remove transparency in elections.

5. Former CEC Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi cracked the whip on the electoral process between 2015 and 2017.. 6. The EC knew of the fraud indulged in by the National Political parties of spending "unaccounted cash running into crores in elections", without furnishing details. 8. Laws were then made in 2017, to help the donors of Modi & Cong, to make limitless donation and to punish the donors of AAP. At one end, Corporates have been authorised to donate by cheque,  amounts to Political parties, without limit and nobody can question that. Except of course, the Income Tax Authorities, operating from the car garage of Modi.

9. These dogs would be let loose against any of the opposition, if they misbehave or start getting honest. 10. On the other hand, only to whip the AAP donors, "Cash donation to parties capped at Rs. 2,000". If the donation goes up to Rs. 2100, Income Tax department will send notices and harass the donor and the CBI & ACB would raid them. That is how all the political parties are kept under leash.

11. Do not believe anything of what I say. Read all the links, become an informed citizen and draw your own conclusons.  Essentially, the Namorons & the Ragarons could have a field-day, while the AAP ians would be be whipped from all sides. Where is the justice. Share widely thru' all avenues and increase the awareness.

Only a responsible lot from the Social Media can save our Democracy.
