Today is Vijay Diwas.

Today is Vijay Diwas. In 1971, Pakistan was defeated by Indian Army in second Indo Pak conflict and a new nation, Bangladesh was born. Lt Gen Niyazi surrenderd before Lt Gen JS Aurora in Dhaka with 90,000 army personnel of Pakistan. I was in 12th at that time and still remembering that i with some of my friends qued before a lone transister set of our hostel warden to listen this glorious story of our army. Dharmyug a very popular hindi magzine of that time, had published a travalogue of  its illustrius editor Dr Dharm Veer Bharti. A series of the details of war and misdeeds of Pakistan Army was published in that hindi magzine.

That was not only a war between two countries on some political disputes, but it was the fittest reply of the myth of the two nations theory, propagted by the idealogue of  Pakistan. Religion can never be a basis of commom nation. The birth of Bangladesh proved that.Bangladesh was born in spite of being a Islamic country. Shekh Mujibur Rahman, the Bang Bandhu, led the freedom struggle of his country and he achieved the goal.

War is not a sport of a civilised society, It must be avoided. But when you entraps in war, fight with all your might and win it. Smt Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, led the country in that crucial moment. She emerged as a saviour of the nation. The then leader of opposition, and formar PM Atal Bihari Bajpayee, publically praised her with the title of Durga.

That war was nat started on any dispute between India and Pak. But due to the despotic behaviour of the dictator rulers of Pakistan, towards Bangla people, A frustration and anger spread against Pak rulers in Bangla desh. That resulted in a revolt and sponteneously the revolt converted into a freedom struggle. A Mukti Wahini was formed, and this peoples militia, openly revolted against Pakistan. Thousands of men women and children left East Pakistan due to the tyranny of Pakistan Army, and they took refuge in India, specially in West Bengal and Assam. The economical and law and order situations became alarming, then Govt of India decided to do some thing. Frustrated Pakistan then attacked on western front, then, the full war erupted..
And on this day, India won this war.
Let us thank to our Army and the leadership of the day for this achievement.
