Where is the magic stick ? – Vijay Shanker Singh

If your predecessor is corrupt, it doesn't mean you are not corrupt. If your predecessor is incompetent , it doesn't mean you are competent . If your predecessor is inactive and unable to deliver the goods, it doesn't mean you are able and you will deliver the goods. In democracy a corrupt, inefficient and incompetent govt replaced by a better visible and available option. The criteria of opting the option is only the track record if available there, or the promises which has been showered from the roastrum. The real test of competence starts after the oath ceremony ends. The degree of leadership is always being tested in cisis. Whether it is bureaucracy or political leadership. If there is a fine weather every will be in enjoying and merry mood but when sun bursts then the real test of your patience, faith, friend begins.

Many people always argue that the previous govt was corrupt. Agree. They were corrupt. That's why they have been thrown in the dustbin. But how can their incompetence will be termed your competence ? What is the logic. Arun Shorie rightly said , the present govt is more interested in media lime light than to deliver goods. You can say Arun is from the frustrated lot of politicians, so it is his outburst. But you can not ignore his findings.

One impression is that this govt is pro rich, pro capitalists. The previous govt was also not pro poor. They were also guided by the philosophy of capitalism and right wing thoughts. Today's big business houses are the byproduct of their economic policies. But they have started some very useful schemes for poors. The implementation may be faulty or corrupt, but schemes are better.

This Govt came with a big bang. With great expectations. Modi had been projected as an awataar one year ago. But that sheen of awatar is fading. Because high expectations always breeds a sense of hurry. They want to see the magic stick which has been assured at the time of elections. But where is the magic stick ?

Time and tide wait for none. It is an old saying. Everyone knows it. And everyone ignores it. Some exceptions may be. But they are not rules. This govt is about to complete her one year in office. This is the twelfth month. One year ago on 26 may this govt has taken oath in a very optimistic atmosphere. The optimism is still present but the current has been subdued. Kindly open the book of promises or the manifesto. These are holy books of political parties. It is a referral book for opposition to oppose the treasury benches, and for treasury benches it is finished book of a successful candidates of any competition. Let us open it, page by page, and let compare it with the euphoria of last election, a smile with many meaning will play on your face. Elections are elections and political parties are parties. Don't take both seriously. Relax. Most of the manifestos are worse than the comics of our childhood days.

It will be ungrateful to tell that nothing has been done in the last one year. Govt has taken many initiatives on many fronts. But the image of Govt has formed as a capitalist face. The word development has shrinks only with the idea of development of industries and it is understood as a development of industrialist. Industrialization is compulsory , agree , but not at the cost of the agriculture. The development of both the sectors are required. The betterment of masses will be the prime object of any welfare state..

Still Govt has much time to deliver. They must read and brush up their manifesto, and promise bag, and do start for the better future of masses and as well as BJP. Govt must be come out from the impression of procorporate. The idea of minting money is okay but the govt's job is not to make and explore the ways for money. But to do something concrete for the benefits and betterment of the masses. He says he has seen poverty, agree, but why not he thinks about the agonies of poor ? I wish he will do something.
